It's A Christmas Miracle!!
Merry Christmas everybody and a happy new year!! I'm so grateful for all of you and I want you all to know you are a great blessing to me. This week has been better than last week and Christmas was an experience haha. Let's get into it.
Tuesday was a great day! We had our Christmas zone conference as a mission. Some really cool talks and was nice to see a lot of my friends that I haven't seen in a while. Also there was some really good food! And when I mean good I just mean a better version of rice and chicken haha. Was a cool day though.
Wednesday was good. We taught a guy named wisdom who lives right on the beach so it's nice to teach him. We also had several other good lessons and I can tell I'm getting more used to the area. We have some good people here.
Thursday we did our weekly planning as usual and it went well. We were able to talk about our people and who is really progressing. Afterwards we taught some other good people and put our friend Elvis on date for baptism! He's a really cool guy and he said he's been trying to find the right church but nothing has felt right. But then he came to this church and he said "it felt different, it felt right" and that was really cool.
Friday again we had some good lessons throughout the day and towards the evening time we went to the beachside again to look for people. The ocean is so cool, its crazy how it works. God's creation for sure. I got some pictures so don't worry about that. We did have some appointments fall through but like always we figured it out and tried to make the most of our time.
Saturday was fun. We had some appointments in the morning and afternoon but by evening time we had our area of the church do a Christmas devotional and one of the Christmas miracles is that I am in one of the only few areas who can go see the temple during this time so that's really cool. The devotional was cool and definitely an experience as it is an African Christmas haha. My mom can send you some of the videos though if you'd like. Some really cool songs people sang and good time overall with the choir.
Sunday! Merry Christmas! It was a really good day overall. Church service was combined so we all met together in my Chapel and had a great sacrament meeting. All centered on Christ and it really brought the spirit in. Was also a cool fact that over 100 people were in this church meeting and I was the only white guy there. Haha fun times. Afterwards we unfortunately didn't do a whole lot. I was able to talk with my family and have some good rice and chicken and egg. Not much of a Christmas dinner but the thought was there, that's what counts right? But it was a good Christmas in Africa. Next year will be different but I'm glad I got to enjoy what I did now.
This Christmas season I'm grateful for many things. But the most important thing I'm grateful for is family. So hug who you can right now. They'll appreciate it. Its one of God's greatest gifts to us, Family's.
Alright I love all of you guys! I hope you had a great 2022. Its been growth for me and a lot of memories I'll cherish but here's to 2023!! Remember, it is what you make it! Situations come and go but you have to power to control how it affects your life. Alright I'll talk to you all next year!
Also as I have been reading my past emails I think I should clarify something. I don't actually have a biological Son here in Ghana haha. I trained a new missionary from Utah (Elder Bentley) who came to Ghana and in the mission we use the term father and Son as I was kind of a father figure in the fact I was showing him how to do everything. So that is why I say he is my son. But he is 19 and not my actual son. Glad we got that figured out.
Much Love,
Elder Busschau
