Thanksgiving?
What's up everybody! What a week this week has been. This week has been kind of all over the place but it's been good. So let's talk about it.
Monday morning our power went out. Something was wrong with the connection and to make long story short we didn't get power again until Thursday. Fun times.
Tuesday we had our zone council meeting. It was good to see my whole zone again and to learn and set goals. Afterwards we went back to our area and tried to teach all the people we could. Was a good day though.
Wednesday I had my training meeting for being a District Leader. It was a good meeting and I learned a lot about how to run meetings and to do baptismal interviews and things like that. It was also fun to see a lot of my old friends that I haven't seen in a while there. The training took most of the day and Elder Bentley ran the area while I was gone with another missionary. Let's just say he was pretty scared to do that haha. But he did a good job nonetheless. In the evening time I got back and got some food.
Thursday we had our weekly planning as usual and that took a little bit. Then our power connection got fixed and had to go buy more power. After all of that we went and taught a few people and then we went out to try to find the deaf girl! Now in my last email, I said I only knew the general area so we went there and asked around. After some time I found her! She was very excited to see me and we signed for a little bit. I've found out that her name is Ruth and he has been coming to our church since 2017. I also found out exactly what ward she worships in. And then we had to leave and I went around trying to call the missionaries in that area. More on this when I reach Sunday. After that we taught our progressing friend Emmanuel who gets baptised this Sunday! So exciting.
Friday was good. We just went around teaching a lot of our friends and yeah. Nothing too special about this day. We have been trying to work with the members more lately and we have seen the benefits from that! We have gotten several member referrals now and it's really cool to see.
Saturday we went up to katamonsu like usual. It was good. Nothing out of the ordinary though. Just a normal day of teaching.
Sunday we had stake conference! That was cool and fun to see all the people there. My mission president was also there so it was fun. There was two sessions on Sunday which is normally not normal but because prices of travel have been increasing so much here, they didn't want people to have to travel twice. After that we came back to our area and ate some food and taught one of our good friends named Mabel. She is also to be baptised this Sunday! After her we went to go see Ruth! I got to know more about her, so more on Ruth now. She actually hasn't been taught by missionaries since like 2018-19 because the missionaries that were there back then did know Sign language but when they got replaced so she was just was never taught again because the new ones didn't know. Ruth was supposed to be baptised but since she went away for school for a while they weren't able to do so. But she has been going to church every week and there is actually three members who are also deaf there and she is the forth one but not a member yet. And two hearing members help interpret for them. Now she is finished with school and is going to ask the missionaries there right now like next week if she can get baptised soon. The only problem is that the new missionaries there don't know Sign language and they don't even know ruth even though shes been going to church there for a while and they don't seem to fun to work with but I'm going to connect with them to see if I can help teach her and prepare her for baptism which would be wayyyy cool. I can really see why God wanted me here. Everything in past time has prepared me for the events now. I'm so thankful for everyone who has helped me get to where I am today! Love you all so much. So that's all with Ruth for now. I'll let you know more next week. After Ruth I had to call all my District members and zone leaders for reports which takes a while. So yeah.
So that's all for this week. Pretty cool week. Had some ups and downs with several appointments falling through also but was a cool week and an inspiring one too. This week I run my first District Council so I'm excited for that. And Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Eat some extra mash potatoes and turkey for me! Don't worry, I'll be eating rice and beans like every other day. Fun times. But this time of year just makes me so grateful for what I have at home and what the people here don't have. I'll be able to go back to a better place, these people won't. So ill help them while I can. Alright love you all! Till next week!
Much Love,
Elder Busschau.
