The Purge.

Another one down. Another week in the past. Here's to the next. Alright so what happened this week? Good question. Let's find out together. 

 

 

Tuesday We had our District Council meeting. It was good. Couldn't complain. Then we went to go teach afterwards and then some deadly rains came upon us. We were out teaching so we found some cover under this shack but it felt like a hurricane was about to consume us. Crazy rain. So it rained the rest of the day and kinda mess up our day so that was fun.

 

 

Wednesday. So some background info. A chief died in Tema some time ago and this week they were replacing him with another. In doing this a lot of traditionalist come out at night and let's just say it's similar to the purge. I'll save the details for when I get home hehe. So basically starting this day all the way to Sunday we had to be back inside by 6pm before it got dark. They call it the Black Out. But other than that we had some good teaching appointments through the day. Then we collected supplies and headed home. 

 

 

Thursday. So we had our weekly planning which went well and then we quickly went and taught around as much as we could. Then back in before night.

 

 

Friday same thing. Went and taught around all day and then back before night. Nothing interesting this day. 

 

 

Saturday same thing haha. Went to katamonsu and taught as much as we could and then came back before dark. We also saw Isaac this day. He is doing a lot better from his fall. And he is putting a great effort to stop smoking!! He's gone a whole week!!! We were excited for him on that and he is looking happy too. We will continue to support and love him.

 

 

Sunday was good. Went to church and had a good time seeing all the members. Afterwards we taught a family and its was a little funny. Elder Bentley was teaching for a good 5 min and then at the end they all look at each other and say "have your brother (me) talk because we no understand you" haha. He was a little disappointed but he learned and is getting his accent better and talking slower and taught them again and then they understood him so it was good. 

 

 

Also a side note. We met another deaf person this week lol. They just keep on coming now I swear. He was pretty cool. But there is this one deaf guy that I've been talking to a little and I don't know if it is just me noticing more or he is stalking us because we will see him EVERYWHERE and in the most random spots. Its pretty funny now because Elder Bently and I will make bets if we will see him or not. But he's a cool guy and loves signing with me and informing me about everyone he knows haha. 

 

 

Anyways thats it for this week. Was actually a pretty interesting week ill admit. Pretty crazy. But we made it through. Transfer news is this Saturday. Probably won't have any change for me because I still have another transfer to train Elder Bentley. But yeah. Love you all and miss you all. Let me know how you are all doing! Happy Halloween!! The Last *Full* Week

Yep, you read it correctly. This upcoming week is my last Monday to Sunday on mission. The week after I go home. Fly home that is. What an exhilarating time to be in. I am excited. But till that day comes, I'm here working and putting my last finishing touches in Ghana. The work is sweet, divine, and no where near my own work, but I'm here helping it.  This past week we've had some interesting experiences. We met an old African American women who was anti and didn't like white people. Was sad to see, someone so lost believing anything she sees online and giving no time or thought to the actual truth. Where truth is the spirit manifests itself, during that conversation there was no spirit, and not an ounce of happiness from her face. The Home Stretch

I'm just going to say sorry right now that these last couple emails are probably going to be short because there's just a lot of preparation going on and just a lot of teaching, nothing big is really happening right now. So with that... I had a good exchange on Wednesday with some Elders. I went with Elder Miles from Utah. He has a lot of potential.  We did a lot of finding this week with trying to find new people to teach. We will always see some funny sign boards or some weird name of a place. This week I found New York! Pic below. We also just went up some mountains trying to find people. Even the mountain people need the gospel and ordinances. Good times.  Now we are up to Busschau 3 - Rat (we have found out that these are RATS) 0. That's what they get for peeing on my clothes.  So I have 2 more pdays after today. Busschau 2 - Mouse 0

Yeah we have a mouse problem. Let's just say these little guys don't live long when I see them. I can send pictures If asked for. Hope all of you are doing well! I've had a pretty good week. We had our first interviews with President Beeson. It was wonderful, I'm very grateful for his inspiration and advice. I can feel he was truly sent to this mission for a purpose.  This week we were able to put one of our good friends on date for baptism. Her name is Sister Vida and she is a mother to 5 children. She has been being taught by missionaries for long time and finally I get the privilege to be the missionary who will witness her baptism (hopefully). She has shown lots of faith and we've had some great spiritual lessons with her. Hopefully she will keep to her commitments and she will be baptized on the 19th August.
