Transfer #7

This week has been full of interesting events. Let me just get into it.

Last Monday we had a district activity and that was fun. We got together and played some games and got to say some goodbyes as a lot of people were leaving this transfer. That's about it for that day.

Tuesday we had our last district council of the transfer. Again not too much happened this day or anything interesting.

Wednesday was good. This day was the start of the new transfer and started out with a good lesson with a guy named Albert. Later we met with a girl named Linda who is progressing very nicely and came to church yesterday! Now after this appointment we went and stopped at a roundabout waiting to hear if our next appointment was a go or not. Basically waiting for them to text us back to see if we can come. As we are standing there waiting, I see two people waiving their arms around at eachother. As I looked more closely, I just started to stare. At that moment I realised they were signing!! The first time I've seen people sign in Africa! After several seconds of me staring they noticed me and I signed back saying, "Are you signing?" It was an older lady talking to her auntie and she told me yes. Then I signed saying I knew ASL and then her face just lit up like a Christmas tree haha. Not going to lie I think mine did too. I was able to sign with her for a few minutes. Turns out I'm a little out of shape on the signing side of things so it took me a second to get it together. She was an older lady but I found out that she is doing fine and she is talking to her auntie as she works around the area. I also talked to the auntie who I believe she could hear but the common language between us was ASL so thats how we communicated also. They were very nice people, although we only signed for a few minutes until we had to go it was a great experience and I won't forget signing to an African.

Thursday was also a good day. We had our planning for the week and we taught Gabriel who is about to make more time off work so he can come to church. In the evening we went to the institute graduation for the legon branch and was very nice! The college goes on vacation starting today and goes for this month. This actually means the legon branch won't meet again until July, which is pretty crazy and I'll explain why in just a second.

Friday, Ernestina had her interview for baptism and she passed! So that was a highlight of that day. We also met this other guy on campus who was a media refferel and he is interesting. Hes Pretty awkward but has a lot of questions so we will meet with him again after the break.

Saturday. This is why it's crazy that legon branch had their last meeting for a while yesterday. This is because Ernestina got baptized Saturday morning! She was very happy and we didn't want to wait until after the break so we fit it in just before. This is the first baptism in Legon Branch in over a year and half at least. Everyone was happy and the branch president was probably the most excited haha. So that was in the morning and throughout the day we met with various people. That night we also met with Sister Adom who we baptized a couple weeks ago. She's doing great and even getting married soon! To a member which is cool and wants to go through the temple! Very excited for her. Again that evening there was a YSA activity which was all of us watching the soccer game. I don't really know. For those of you who know me I don't watch or even know much about soccer lol so yeah we didnt stay for long. I swear soccer is some people's religion here haha. It is all people do.

Sunday morning Ernestina was able to be confirmed and receive the Holy Ghost! She also got interviewed for a limited use temple recommend which is also really cool. Sunday evening we went to go teach these people we have never met and when we get there, there is only three people. Two people who don't go to church and one Muslim. So it started out simple but throughout the appointment, all these kids, ages ranging between 6-15, just started joining and listening. So by the end of our meeting there was about 15 people we were preaching too haha. Some Muslims, some Christians, and some all in between. Felt like I just finished teaching to a congregation on the street. Like some of the early saints when they went on missions. Was also cool. We are meeting with them again Wednesday.

Twas a great week and a lot of good experiences. This week I get to meet with the new zone members at zone council tomorrow and teach more people throughout. Love and miss you all! Let me know how you are all doing! Greatful for all the support.

Much Love,

Elder Busschau.
