2nd Week In Africa

Good morning everybody!


It has now been 1 week and 4 days in Africa. It has been a wild and emotional experience for sure. When I first got here, last Saturday we baptized someone so that was very cool! My companion, Elder Williams, is Nigerian and he was an amateur boxer so I feel pretty safe around him haha.


This past week I have usually just watched my companion teach and then i would either bear testimony or what i have been doing the past few days is teaching just a few parts of the lesson. I have really found joy in teaching people. I know for a fact that I am growing in ways I'd never thought I would. I'm really seeing another side of me that I'd would have never thought I had which is a good thing.


Africa is pretty wild as I've said haha. The roads are like Mario kart and you never have to shower because your always sweaty! Jk haha but really, I don't think I've ever been dry since I've been here. I'm getting used to it though.


The people are really nice though and I do get a LOT of stares because I'm only white guy within miles. In twi, white guy is (oh brooney) probably spelt that wrong but say it like I wrote it. I get called that all the time and it is pretty funny sometimes. Kids will just come up and hug me and stare and laugh so that's fun.


We have about 5 people on date for baptism already for October 9th so that's really cool, hopefully they all follow through. 4 kids/teens and one adult.


I am still adjusting and still have hard days as I will throughout my mission, but as I push and grow i'll make it through, after all it's only 22 months and 27 days left but who's counting right?

There is a saying in Ghana, well at least everybody just says it so its probably a saying, but they always say (small small). That's how we should take life on, small small. Learn in the present!

The Last *Full* Week

Yep, you read it correctly. This upcoming week is my last Monday to Sunday on mission. The week after I go home. Fly home that is. What an exhilarating time to be in. I am excited. But till that day comes, I'm here working and putting my last finishing touches in Ghana. The work is sweet, divine, and no where near my own work, but I'm here helping it.  This past week we've had some interesting experiences. We met an old African American women who was anti and didn't like white people. Was sad to see, someone so lost believing anything she sees online and giving no time or thought to the actual truth. Where truth is the spirit manifests itself, during that conversation there was no spirit, and not an ounce of happiness from her face. The gospel I Share brings joy to my heart everytime and to others it is shared with, as they embrace it. Please remember this when going around sifting through truth. The Home Stretch

I'm just going to say sorry right now that these last couple emails are probably going to be short because there's just a lot of preparation going on and just a lot of teaching, nothing big is really happening right now. So with that... I had a good exchange on Wednesday with some Elders. I went with Elder Miles from Utah. He has a lot of potential.  We did a lot of finding this week with trying to find new people to teach. We will always see some funny sign boards or some weird name of a place. This week I found New York! Pic below. We also just went up some mountains trying to find people. Even the mountain people need the gospel and ordinances. Good times.  Now we are up to Busschau 3 - Rat (we have found out that these are RATS) 0. That's what they get for peeing on my clothes.  So I have 2 more pdays after today. Busschau 2 - Mouse 0

Yeah we have a mouse problem. Let's just say these little guys don't live long when I see them. I can send pictures If asked for. Hope all of you are doing well! I've had a pretty good week. We had our first interviews with President Beeson. It was wonderful, I'm very grateful for his inspiration and advice. I can feel he was truly sent to this mission for a purpose.  This week we were able to put one of our good friends on date for baptism. Her name is Sister Vida and she is a mother to 5 children. She has been being taught by missionaries for long time and finally I get the privilege to be the missionary who will witness her baptism (hopefully). She has shown lots of faith and we've had some great spiritual lessons with her. Hopefully she will keep to her commitments and she will be baptized on the 19th August.
